We welcome the opportunity to work with our community on a deeper level. 2021 is just a few days — or, dare we write — hours away?
We are eternally grateful for the various ways our team is embracing change. The ways in which we are adapting to the needs of our community continue to emerge.
The partnership of our clientele and personal trainers has been astounding. We discovered each and every week how much each member of Pongo Power has come to rely on one another.
In this blog, our General Manager, Izzy Devlin, describes our innovations. We conclude with some thoughts from me, the founder and CEO of Pongo Power.
Our Dearest Pongo Power Community
Something about the usual goodbye to the current year just doesn't sit right this time. We all know 2020 has been unprecedented, transformative, hard, lonely, and introspective. With all we have gone through, it feels wrong to just rid ourselves of it. Each of us has dealt with our own unexpected challenges this year, and we honor the fact that we have made it here.
First and foremost: we acknowledge and admire each and every one of you for making it to where you are today. Pongo Power clients and supporters have kept our community alive and thriving this year.
Throughout all of the curveballs that this year threw you have remained committed to your health and wellness, and have trusted us along the way. That kind of dedication is priceless.
Thank you, thank you, thank you.
As a result of your dedication, Pongo Power was able to make some really great things happen in 2020:
We Went Virtual - Immediately, as soon as we were forced to close our physical doors, you hopped right on Zoom with us and kept your training going. That is amazing. We know there was a learning curve, but our trainers are educated and passionate professionals who knew how to modify your program. We hope that you have found a new love for working out at home with us.
We Held a 12-hour Virtual Fundraiser To Raise Money For The Okra Project - Because of you we were able to raise $3019! Thank you so much for helping us to raise money to support our Black Trans neighbors. By joining us on zoom you made it possible to share knowledge, laughter, wine, cheese, whiskey, and wrap up the day with a DJ dance party. We hope to have many more free events like it in 2021.
We Launched Pongo Power Online Classes - After hearing from our community, we realized that we could all benefit from a sense of community, especially during the lockdown. Our trainers created small-group fitness classes available for current clients as well as anyone who was interested in checking our offering out!
Our current class offerings are:
- Body Weight Strength and Mobility
- Core Foundations
- Kids Fitness
- Prenatal Fitness
- Release and Stretch
We Refreshed Our Digital Presence - In 2020, we worked diligently to create a more robust experience for our visitors. We revamped our website, email blasts, and Instagram. We hope you have liked the changes so far and are ready for even more fun stuff in 2021!
We Safely Reopened 5th Street - In the fall, we were able to safely reopen 5th Street to those who were seriously itching to get back to in-person training. Thank you for keeping our space safe and secure so that we can continue to offer onsite training for all those who desire it!
None of the above would have been possible if you didn't believe in the power of science-based personal training. We are always listening and learning about what our community wants. We are delighted to provide the training protocols and exercise programming needed to tackle being seated for so much of each day.
That theme will continue into the new year.
Thank you for being a part of the Pongo Power community. We have big plans for the coming year and we are excited to have you join us!
With lots of love and lower abdominal strength,
The Team at Pongo Power
A note from our founder, Elizabeth Pongo.
There are many 'best-business' practices that entrepreneurs wake up to as we build our businesses. Being a small-business owner is not an easy task; it is a long-term commitment to discovery.
Throughout the 13 years of our existence, I've always been touched by the kindness, dedication, and commitment of our clients.
I also want to personally thank every teammate at Pongo Power for being so very calm and confident throughout this heart-wrenching year. The Pongo Power team's reliability is magnificent.
Closing our physical gym was frightening. Yet we all looked at our offerings and discovered for ourselves how we want to expand beyond the bubble we lived in back in 2019.
Thinking about who I was before March 15th, and who I am now, what I've discovered is trust. As a team, we've dedicated our professional lives to creating a more stable future for one another. We didn't do it alone. We also had the privilege and honor of working with Cecilia Madison, our Executive Coach; Deborah Smith, our Brand and Marketing consultant; and Leigh Michelle Power, our virtual fundraising Event Manager. These three women stood for our mission, vision, and for us.
I'd also like to thank my business partner and husband Richard Burst-Lazarus. Richard cooked me countless meals this year, as we both worked from home. He made sure I had someone to give me hugs throughout all the fears and the tears. It was a year that threatened everything we've worked for. And yet, with the help of our entire community Pongo Power is emerging stronger than ever before.
I am so very grateful to our entire community.
