ONLINE MEDICAL EXERCISE
Medical Exercise Training is a way for clients with sub-acute medical conditions to exercise safely and effectively. Our Medical Exercise Specialists (MES) at Pongo Power develop conditioning programs for clients with sub-acute musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, neurological and metabolic conditions. These clients will have already completed medical treatment and/or physical therapy. Improvement or restoration of function via education and exercise is the goal.
A Pongo Power Medical Exercise Specialist will meet with you online, for a free consultation to review your health history. If it is appropriate, we will then provide movement screenings to assess your functional range of motion. Through implementation of self-administered stretches and gentle exercise, clients who have medical conditions can learn strategies to help improve well-being. We will help you to manage your conditions at home.
Working with clients with chronic medical conditions is a unique and sometimes serious challenge. The purpose of exercise for them is more therapeutic than performance, because as Medical Exercise Specialists, we have now become part of the your healthcare team, thereby bridging the gap between healthcare and fitness.
WHAT IS A MEDICAL EXERCISE SPECIALIST?
The MES is a fitness professional who not only works with the typical client looking to improve their health and fitness level, but who also has gained the necessary knowledge and skills to work with clients who have a wide range of medical conditions. Taught by a Physical Therapist and Chiropractor, our Medical Exercise Specialists are trained to develop safe and effective conditioning programs for clients with musculoskeletal, cardiovascular, neurological, or metabolic disorders.
If you have been in chronic pain, you may gain benefits from our experts’ services. By managing your medical conditions through exercise, our medical exercise professionals can alleviate many of your aches and pains by making you stronger, restore muscular balance, improve function, improve your flexibility, increase energy levels; all of which are necessary to improve your quality of life.

WHAT OUR CLIENTS ARE SAYING
I love the atmosphere at Pongo Power. There's lots of good energy and friendly support in a small setting that's never intimidating. My personal experience at Pongo Power has been very effective, because Gardy understands how all the muscles work together, and creates much more effective workouts.
I am convinced that without Pongo Power and Gardy, I would be a semi-invalid today. Many, many thanks for helping me get my life back.
Karin's guidance has been invaluable! The strengthening work we did enabled me to sail through hip replacement surgery, and I could not have returned to full mobility without her wisdom, patience, encouragement, and knowledge of human anatomy.
MEDICAL PROFESSIONALS CAN EXPECT
A 12-point musculoskeletal screening to determine the client’s suitability for the program.
Understanding the related anatomy, pathology, and biomechanics of the common medical conditions, and how they respond to exercise.
Effective communication with medical community, using standardized medical terms.
Documentation of training sessions and evaluation of MES program based on assessment of functional abilities.
An understanding of the scope of practice when working with post-rehab and medical exercise clients.
Identification of warning signs that indicate the need for treatment from a licensed medical professional.
The MES is not trained to offer any professional rehab services provided by licensed physical therapists, chiropractors, massage therapists and/or physicians. We do not diagnose or treat any condition.
