Pongology Principal Number Two – Making Exercise Fun, not Painful

Franz Kafka wrote, “Self-control is something for which I do not strive. Self-control means wanting to be effective at some random point in the infinite radiations of my spiritual existence.”

Well, it’s true. People associate exercise with self-discipline. Really, though exercise is the one hour that you devote to your body, out of 24 hours each day. So why not free-associate and call up memories of recess…. or… if that wasn’t a fun time for you, recall some wild and crazy thing you used to do, just for yourself. That’s what your workout is: time for You!

Too, the other pitfall of staying motivated to exercise, is remembering the aches and pains that you feel when you’re just getting into great shape. But you can start with things that feel good, fun things. Stretching is very important! And that can feel great. Breathing… hey! Breathing is very important. Working on integrating your breath with your lower abdominal core musculature… what?
